The teleportation lecture
In his Ph.d project Teleportation Erik Friis Reitan examines how photography relates to physical presence, absence and materiality by building elaborate installations around photographic objects and surfaces. The project takes inspiration from sources such as minimalism, sacral architecture, science fiction, panorama paintings, scenography, ancient tombs and caves.
In his lecture he takes us through the artistic development of the project — from the application to the Ph.d programme to the exhibition Teleportation #2 in Rom 61 in 2020.
Erik Friis Reitan is a visual artist and in his final year as a Ph.d fellow at Bergen Academy of Contemporary Art. He works in the field of tension between photography, sculpture and installation. He got his MA at Trondheim art academy, and BA at Kent Institute of Art & Design in England. The concluding exhibition of his Ph.d project Teleportation is set to take place in Tårnsalen/KODE4 in april/may this year.
