Between the translucent and the blue
On sound materiality, tactility and urban structures
The lecture expands on the concepts and practices developed in the project ‘Between the translucent and the blue,’ which was exhibited at Lydgalleriet in Bergen in Feb 20 — Apr 04, 2021.
Recorded in Genova during spring 2020, the long-duration piece captures non-linear voiceover audio recordings and movements alongside city block infrastructure, enhancing the acoustic tension between absence, embodiment, and abstraction. By exploring sensibilities of urban spaces under changes and pressures, the lecture highlights issues of urban marginality inhibited by fixed structures and defensive functions where city orders hinder the formation of heterotopias, as well as their very creation.
